http://www.dccomics.com/blog/2013/05/22/the-world’s-greatest-super-heroes-the-world’s-vilest-super-villains Here's an article from DC Comics about the epic game between DC heavyweights Jim Lee and Geoff Johns using the chess set I worked on.
This Saturday was Free Comic Book Day and it was a blast! I got to see a bunch of friends like Ron Marz, Matthew Dow Smith, Richard Clark, Darren & Kristi Carrera, and John Belskis. We had a surprise party for the one and only Joltin' Joe Sinnott and we presented him with an awesome cake that showed off his six decades in the comic business. This was his 63rd year with Marvel Comics! It was also great to meet Mark Sinnott and learn more about his dad's fabled career. Joe did an amazing Thor sketch for me too!
Stop in at Excellent Adventures and The Comic Depot this Saturday for Free Comic Book Day. It's the first Saturday every May devoted to getting new people into comics and young readers into, well, reading! This time I teamed up with all star writer Ron Marz and artist Matthew Dow Smith to create a comic that teaches folks how to make comics! I drew the top halves of the pages explaining how people do it and Matt drew the bottom halves to show the artwork of our characters. Add cool covers by Jennifer Myers and legendary Marvel artist and inker Joe Sinnott and you've got yourselves a sweet little how-to. And, of course, it's free!
Just announced is a new sculpture based on one of my favorite artists, Frank Quitely. This series is the Man of Steel line and each one has a metallic sheen to the paint. It is the first one I sculpted for this series - but not the last! And this is the second time I've had the honor of working with Frank's designs. Unfortunately, the DC Comics solicitations listed this one with a different sculptors name on it! Hope they straighten that out.
I present to you for your viewing pleasure two new 3.75" action figures. From the forthcoming Injustice: Gods Among Us video game are Black Adam and Raven. As you can see I sculpted these digitally for DC Collectibles. Look for them in the months ahead!
Coming soon is this 3.75" Harley Quinn action figure (shown here at actual size). She will be packaged with Cyborg (I didn't sculpt him). Also show is the Wonder Woman figure from the same video game and she will be packaged with Solomon Grundy whom I did not sculpt either.
Check with www.sideshowtoy.com in the coming days to catch the pre-order of these cool DC figures. I did the sculpting on these which include heads, hands, and accessories. The clothing and art direction were done by the wonderful people at Sideshow Collectibles.
Hi! Check out this month's issue of Geek magazine for a great article on this toymaker's geekier side! It has two covers so choose wisely! Or visit them online at GeekExchange.com.
Today at New York Comic-Con marks the arrival of my second consecutive (last year was the Sickened Joker) NYCC DC Collectibles Exclusive figure. This time it is the 4 inch Atrocitus character from the Green Lantern universe. This is just the start of some cool 4 inch toys in the works so keep your eyes here! Check out my wax sculpt pics and the awesome review from Toy World Order:
Check out these shots of my new Joker, Harley Quinn and Catwoman 12" figures. They just debuted this week in San Diego at Comic-Con. Woohoo!!
In stores now is my "New 52" styled Batman statue that I worked on with Jim Lee. I hope it does his work justice because I grew up reading his books!
Here's a look at the Albany Comic-Con VIP print up for sale for this Sunday's show. Contributors include Joe Sinnot, Jim Starlin, Joe Staton, Lee Moder, Paul Abrams, and me! All original art will be up for auction June 10th to benefit the Ronald McDonald house. www.albanycomicbookshow.com
Sunday June 10th is Albany Comic-con and once again I'm participating in the VIP print. The original art will be auctioned off to the highest bidder for a great cause. Other original art up or bid by Jim Starlin, Joe Staton, Randy Elliot, Lee Moder and some other great ones.
I'll be appearing at WWPHilly May 31st-June 3rd at the Convention Center in downtown Philadelphia. Please come and visit! I'll be doing sketches, commisions and will have prints for sale. And you can even bring your action figures and statues in and have them signed!
Nope, I don't make an actual guest appearance on this week's Big Bang Theory. But my Superman Vs Brainiac statue does show up at their local comic store! It's on the top shelf of the glass case. Remember this is a Warner Bros TV show so that always helps. Hopefully some of my many upcoming Sideshow figures will make an appearance since the show is partial to that toy company too!
